After spending several months and looking at lots of different RVs, I have finally narrowed the search down. Initially, I had set a budget and started to search those out – the budget was in the mid $70,000-80,000 range. This was factored in by taking what I’m currently paying in rent and estimating what a traditional loan would be over a 9 year period of time. However, the more I thought of this plan, I thought it would make more sense to buy a much more affordable unit, get to learn the RV and make the mistakes (running into a gas pump islands barrier, for example!) on a unit that wouldn’t be as damaging than a $80,000 RV. If I find that I’m still living from the RV in a year from now, I would have learned quite a bit and been able to really narrow down the features I’m looking for and know exactly what I want.
So, the search changes and finally after several long weeks and months of driving to different states to look at different RVs, finding RVs I like but are already sold, I think I’ve found the one!
My father and I went and toured the unit just a short drive from Charlotte on Sunday. We’ll be doing another trip back on Tuesday in order to do a test drive, and hopefully take the unit home! Here’s to hoping it all works out in my favor. Keeping my fingers crossed!
