Plans, plans, plans! No matter how much planning and tentative planning you do when living full time in a RV – it is never enough!
This week, after the devastating storms from Hurricane Harvey that destroyed parts of Texas, it appears a new Hurricane is targeting Florida. And worse, it is a Category 5 Hurricane whose not planning on slowing down anytime soon.
Georgia’s on my mind!
What that means for me? Well, I have tentative plans to head to Savannah, GA (I am hoping to check GA off the map and I’m only four miles from the state line). With the storm closing in and expected to make landfall in Florida this weekend it is anticipated to continue up the coast line even as far up North as North Carolina. I do NOT want to put my RV in harms way so I am looking for alternatives. The latest forecasts have Hurricane Irma nailing a good portion of Georgia, so it’s time to look elsewhere.
Hunker Down in Tennessee?
Well it isn’t exactly on the way to Florida but I also haven’t been to Tennessee and thankfully there are two Thousand Trails campgrounds there. Maybe I can go hunker down there. I made a reservation last night to spend a week just outside of Memphis. This would mean a 6 hour plus drive by car so a bit longer in the RV. Maybe I’ll even overnight in Alabama via the long route to or from. We will wait and see how the weekend goes and updates to the weather.
I checked the weather this morning and well, Hurricane Irma has decided she wants to go RIGHT in my path! She is now expected to miss most of the coast line of Georgia but to head in toward Alabama and up to Tennessee as she winds down into a tropical storm. Still, with the amount of rainfall and winds I do not want to be near her.
Plan N – North Carolina
It seems as I have made enough plan changes to be at plan N by now which is appropriate to be in North Carolina. Now my fourth trip between SC and NC, I’ve been able to secure reservations to be back at Forest Lake in Advance, NC. Not exactly my ideal trip and definitely back tracking if I want to be in Orlando but I am safe so that is all that matters. Let’s see if the weather changes any more and if I have to go to Plan O! That will probably be plan Oh shit what now?! Stay tuned!
