One of my favorite places to visit is in Sedona, Arizona. For those who don’t know, I lived in Phoenix, Arizona for about four years after graduating from high school – I sort of picked it on a map.
While in Phoenix, I would drive up to Sedona to escape the hot summers, get out of town, and just enjoy the very red rocks! It’s true, Sedona is a wickedly red area, sitting at roughly 4300 feet in elevation and a small 20 mile square radius. It’s about a 2 hour drive from Phoenix, and while there isn’t an overly populated list of things to do, it’s a nice drive and the temperature can drop about 15 – 20 degrees from Phoenix.
Well, as I said, there isn’t a lot to do, but I put together a short list of some of my favorites:
No matter how you spend your time in Sedona, and if you even spend just a few minutes, you’ll absolutely appreciate the beauty of these red mountains. The town does a fantastic job of making the town blend in – they even have red tinted sidewalks!
You really need to see it in person, but here are a sampling of the photos I took while passing through last weekend.
