Sudden change of plans

Today is Wednesday, April 5th.  And today’s plan?  At 5pm head back up and sign the title, pay the cash and be on my way home in my new (to me) RV!

But, first, let’s back up a bit.  Today at about 2pm, I was informed that I’ll be taking a temporary assignment for my job – a six to twelve month minimum over to the Netherlands to assist with onboarding, training, and building a new business practice my department is involved in.

WAIT, say what?  In just a few hours I’m supposed to be bringing home this RV, paying cash, and now it is expected to sit in a storage unit for a YEAR?  Talk about some major life change interruptions!  Now, I need to decide if this is something I really want to do, and I need to know in the next three hours.  Unfortunately, because of the global relocation, I need to quickly decide, but I am also at the mercy of my job going through the political red tape and HR policies to create the assignment and execute that.  I have no idea how long this is expected to take, but, from my understanding, it can take up to two weeks before I find out any details.

Going overseas isn’t something on my bucket list.  Sure, I’ve done some travelling but overall, it wasn’t my most exciting visits, and besides – there is SO much to do here in the US that I can’t imagine missing out on all of these adventures here.  But, if work is going to pay for it, sure – why not – how often do you get these opportunities, and I think it would be a life learning and fun opportunity.  Not just personally, but professionally.  So for now, I think tabling the RV purchase (I would be missing out on my deposit), and going overseas will just involve a slight delay, but give me ample time to do some further planning.

Next steps – I still need to continue to purge and liquidate my excess “stuff” I’ve collected over the years, figure out the vehicle situations, and wait to hear more information.  My heart is broken, but when one door closes, another door opens.  I must remain positive!  I will still have the opportunity to continue my RV adventure soon!
