It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the year flies by.  As I think back on 2017, it dawns on me I’m now 6 months into full time RVing!  Wow.  It is finally a reality that I’m doing this.

2017: In the Rearview Mirror

In the last six months, I’ve accomplished:

  • Bought a RV
  • Fixed a RV
  • Travelled five states
  • Moved from NC to FL

Thinking of what it actually cost me, I was able to break it down as follows:

  • Camping Fees = $67.50
  • Fuel/Gas(RV) = $249.78
  • Propane (RV) = $62.65
  • Days in Campgrounds = 102 days
  • Days “Moochdocking” = 55 days
  • Days RV in Storage  = 27 days
  • Membership Fees/Dues = $378.93

Total for 6 months: $728.93

I spent more time mooch-docking than anticipated, but with the new desk, RV repairs, and work travel, I am more than happy with it!

2018: A View from the Windshield

This year is already in full swing.  I am officially (now) enjoying the warm weather in Florida and playing the “Thousand Trails Shuffle” – the game full timers play bouncing between parks in their membership while staying south.  For me, that means bouncing between two parks in Orlando and a few hours south of there, each stay for two weeks (14 days).

But, while I wait for Mother Nature to have some winter blues turn to warm weather, I’m busy booking my next adventures!  So far, I’m planning on a few upcoming trips when I leave Orlando in mid February, including:

  • Hope, AR – Seeing Bill Clinton’s hometown was a childhood bucket list item for me, so, why not!
  • Biloxi, MS – Casino-camping
  • Gulf Shores, AL – most likely a quit overnighter
  • New Orleans, LA – yep!  Mardi Gras!

This should take me through mid March, where I’ll then continue my adventure westward to the California coast by Summer time.  My plan is to mostly stay I-10 until I get to Texas where I’ll head North and pickup I-40 west.

Stay tuned, and let me know if you have any recommendations of must stay places along the way in the comments below.
