A honeywagon is a portable waste tank for emptying the tanks of RV. These tanks are usually dragged (on wheels, of course!) behind a tractor or golf cart. Often times, a campground will offer a honeywagon service when they have waste plant issues, or there are several RVs in sites (or a grass field) which don’t have “full hookups” or access to dump their sewer at their own site. Sometimes these cost a few dollars, and sometimes they are free of charge, it just depends on the campground.
When you book a campsite reservation, often times you’ll see one of two options: Water/Electric or “Full Hookup”. Full hookup, sometimes abbreviated by “FHU” means that the campsite has an Electric pedestal to get power from, Water lines for getting fresh water, and a sewer connection to connect your RV waste directly to the campgrounds sewer systems (this could be a built in septic field, city waste, or other types of ways to treat the waste. These sites usually run a bit more expensive as it’s more costly to the campground to move stinky waste from everyone, than it is to just provide water lines. Full hookups are generally desired, because this gives you flexibility to have long hot showers, without filling up your RV tanks!
